Mariana R. Castro
Mariana R. Castro, a proud Tucson native and devoted U of A Wildcat, has been a cornerstone of Karnas Law Firm since 2012, excelling as a personal injury paralegal case manager. Renowned for her unwavering commitment to client care, Mariana has earned numerous awards for her exceptional contributions. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she graduated from Sahuaro High School before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Arizona in 2009, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Business.
A passionate networker and community volunteer, Mariana is actively involved with the Arizona State Bar Association and the Tucson Paralegal Association. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and cheering on her beloved Arizona Diamondbacks and Cardinals. Known for her empathy and tenacity, Mariana approaches every case with determination, ensuring clients and their families receive the best possible outcomes.
Tina Campos
Tina Campos, a Tucson native and proud mom, brings over two decades of expertise as a personal injury case manager and paralegal to Karnas Law Firm. With her bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, Tina has earned recognition for her compassionate and personalized approach to client care. A top graduate of Sunnyside High School’s Class of 1983, she pursued accounting studies at Pima Community College and the University of Arizona, balancing her education with caring for her family.
Her career began with the Tucson Border Patrol, where she excelled across various departments before transitioning into the legal field. Now a seasoned personal injury specialist, Tina is deeply committed to ensuring every client feels heard and supported. Outside of work, her love for U of A sports fuels her enthusiasm—always ready to cheer on her Wildcats. Go Wildcats!
Cathy Herrera
Our marketing director and case intake specialist, Catalina (”Cathy“ ) Herrera, was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, and moved to Yuma, AZ, when she was 5 years old. She is a proud graduate of Yuma High School, “The Crims”. Cathy then graduated with honors from Northern Arizona University in 2010 where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Cathy Herrera is fluent in Spanish and English.
Cathy has been with Karnas Law Firm for almost 10 years, and she has been central to developing and growing the Yuma office. In addition to her current position, Cathy has been a case manager and paralegal. Cathy enjoys networking and volunteering for her community events in Yuma, Tucson, and Phoenix. Likewise, she is passionate about helping and educating clients. Cathy’s exceptional client services have won her recognition, respect, and awards from her peers. Maria Alvarado
Maria Alvarado, the esteemed Chief Financial Officer at Karnas Law Firm, has been a vital leader since 2014. Born in Riito, Sonora, Mexico, Maria moved to Yuma, Arizona, at the age of 12, embracing bilingual fluency in English and Spanish. She takes pride in delivering personalized client care, providing comfort and guidance to families during challenging times.
Maria holds an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Arizona Western College and exemplifies dedication to professional growth. Known for her compassionate leadership, Maria combines her financial expertise and community insights to drive success for both the firm and its clients.
Jocelyn Perez
Jocelyn Perez joined Karnas Law Firm in 2019 and has since made a remarkable impact. Starting as a front desk coordinator, she quickly advanced to her current role as a personal injury case manager, leveraging her bilingual fluency in Spanish and English to foster strong client relationships.
A proud graduate of Cibola High School’s Class of 2017, Jocelyn pursued her passion for numbers, earning a degree in accounting from Arizona Western College. Her analytical skills and attention to detail enhance her ability to manage complex cases with precision. Outside of work, Jocelyn loves exploring new destinations and immersing herself in different cultures, bringing an adventurous and dynamic perspective to her role.
Charlene Surgeon
Charlene Surgeon, a seasoned litigation paralegal at Karnas Law Firm, brings decades of experience and professionalism to her role. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charlene relocated to Phoenix in 1994 to launch a successful career in banking, later transitioning to law.
With degrees in Criminal Justice and Business, Charlene served as an Operations Manager at a Tucson collections law firm before joining Karnas Law. Her extensive background and dedication to excellence make her a cornerstone of the litigation team.
Olivia Gaxiola
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Olivia Gaxiola has been a dedicated Intake Specialist at Karnas Law Firm for nearly a decade. A graduate of Cholla High Magnet School, Olivia is fluent in Spanish and English, ensuring she connects with every client on a personal level.
Passionate about helping clients navigate difficult situations, Olivia’s approach is both supportive and proactive. She says, “Knowing I’m helping improve our clients’ lives keeps me motivated.” When not at work, Olivia channels her energy into networking, fitness, and making a positive impact on her community.
Veronica Reyes
Veronica Reyes, a vibrant and driven member of Karnas Law Firm, brings a diverse background and a passion for service to her role. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Veronica is actively engaged in uplifting her Yuma community through events and volunteer work.
Beyond work, Veronica enjoys hiking, yoga, meditation, and traveling, as well as spending quality time with family, friends, and her beloved pets. Her dedication to personal growth and making a difference ensures her contributions leave a lasting impact on both the firm and the community she serves.
Kery Salinas
Kery Salinas, the welcoming Director of First Impressions at Karnas Law’s Yuma office, has been a vital team member for nearly two years. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, and a proud graduate of Douglas High School, Kery’s bilingual fluency in English and Spanish allows her to connect effortlessly with clients from all walks of life.
A devoted wife and mother, Kery enjoys traveling and exploring new opportunities for personal and professional growth. Her warmth and ambition create a welcoming environment for every client, making her an integral part of the team.
Lizbeth
Lizbeth, one of Karnas Law Firm’s dedicated paralegals, brings passion and personal experience to her role. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Liz moved to Phoenix for four years before returning home with her family. Deeply connected to her Arizona roots, Liz’s journey into personal injury law began at 18, inspired by her own experience as an accident victim.
Starting as a receptionist, Liz quickly advanced to case manager, driven by her commitment to helping clients through challenging times. Outside of work, she enjoys family time, experimenting with new recipes, and embracing Arizona’s natural beauty.
Sydney Joyce Schwalbe-Kitchens
Sydney Joyce Schwalbe-Kitchens has been a valued team member at Karnas Law Firm since 2020, now serving as a Case Manager Assistant. A 2023 graduate of the University of Arizona, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law with a minor in Viola Performance.
When she’s not assisting clients, Sydney enjoys riding her horse, Bailey, and performing on the viola, showcasing her multifaceted talents. Her dedication to excellence ensures the team and clients receive top-tier support.
Valerie Valverde
Valerie Valverde, a Miami native, joined Karnas Law Firm with a mission to make a difference in her new community of Tucson, Arizona. Fluent in English and Spanish, Valerie graduated from Broward College in 2022 and has built a successful career as a Personal Injury Case Manager.
Passionate about travel and connecting with diverse individuals, Valerie’s enthusiasm and commitment shine in every case she handles. Her attention to detail and dedication to client care make her an asset to the firm.
Coralyn Wall
Hailing from the scenic landscapes of Colorado, Coralyn found a new chapter in life when she moved to Benson, Arizona, in 2020. Armed with a degree in Construction Management, she built a solid 14-year career in the construction industry before taking on new entrepreneurial adventures. In 2005, Coralyn married her husband, and together, they embarked on a rewarding journey in healthcare, running their own chiropractic clinic with Coralyn’s help for 13 years until its successful sale.The next step in her professional evolution led her to work as an assistant to paralegal Marlene Morton, a role that honed her organizational and leadership skills. A country dweller at heart, she lives on 20 serene acres, where she raises rabbits and thrives on hiking and connecting with nature alongside her dog and husband.
Today, Coralyn gives back to community with her passion for empowerment as the leader of a dynamic women’s organization that uplifts and supports female entrepreneurs in Cochise County. A natural leader and advocate, she continues to inspire others to craft lives of purpose and possibility.
Marlene Morton
Marlene Morton has proudly called Tucson home since her early teens and brings a dynamic blend of skills and experience to her role. A double graduate of the University of Arizona, Marlene earned degrees in both Philosophy and Business Administration, combining critical thinking with strategic insight. As a Certified Paralegal and Certified Legal Document Preparer, she leverages her background as a personal injury adjuster and liaison between claims and legal departments for major insurance companies to expertly navigate complex cases.
Known for her unwavering professionalism and approachable demeanor, Marlene is also deeply invested in giving back to her community. She stays active in local volunteer organizations, making a meaningful impact beyond the office. When she’s not working, Marlene enjoys creating lasting memories with family and friends. Her combination of expertise, community spirit, and genuine care makes her an invaluable asset and a trusted advocate.
